Filagain Box
Filagain Box is a packaging concept that we use to deliver filaments purchased by Filagain BETA user using cash balance from exchanging 3D print waste; to test the idea of minimizing single-use filament packaging waste, and an easier way to collect 3D print waste to ship it back to Filagain.
A "Drybox" and Garbage Bin Within a Box
The box features an internal spool holder to keep filaments from dust contamination. The box is not a real "drybox" yet so it cannot effectively keep filament dry. However, it can reasonably store general filaments like PLA & ABS well enough from excess humidity.
There's also a dedicated garbage bin to store 3D print waste so user can easily separate their 3D print waste, before sending it back to Filagain to exchange the waste with cash balance.
Use Filaments Directly from the Box!
The box can be used to hold filament spool and use the filament for printing directly from the box. Just insert the filaments in the box, slide the tip of the filament through the top and insert it to printer extruder. A PTFE tube can also be used to guide the filament from the box to the extruder, see demo video below.
Easily Store 3D Print Waste
While the left side of the box holds the filament spool, the right section is reserved to store 3D print waste like supports, failed prints, etc. When the filament runs out, user can send the box along with the 3D print waste and empty spool inside back to Filagain easily.
